Recently removed the battery myself as has died and halfrauds keep saying they can’t fit it due to some specialist advice from Aston themselves. I explained the battery in there is one they supply but whether they trying to fob me off.

When the new battery goes in, is there anything you need to reset or put a code in for (radio)? I can’t find the code anywhere (not in glovebox or book) or is it just wipe the associated codes and away you go?

Thanks

I think they are giving you wrong advise..did my 08 in the spring…simple operation ..except for the aluminum retaining clips can be trouble…re set the windows…and everything else was good….

Good guide here on Redpants https://www.redpants.lol/diy-battery-vantage

Relatively straightforward, and depending what smart charger you may have some have a mode where you can leave the car plugged in to the charger so the car does not lose power and nothing needs resetting at all.

I left the Ctek plugged in when I changed mine and didn’t need to reset anything. Pain in the a** to change though.

Yeah I got it out and that was fun, sadly no option to trickle charge given accessibility issues.

Update

Changed battery and still not starting…… what else could it be?

What are the symptoms? No crank? Slow crank? Crank but no fire? No lights on the dash?

I had a failure to start problem with our 'local duties workhorse'.
It will soon be 30 years old, so that simplifies the investigation.

1. Tested a spark plug for good sparks. Appeared weak, so fitted new spark plugs.
Still would not start.
2. Squirted some Easystart fluid into the carburettor.
Engine started and ran briefly, until the Easystart fluid had been consumed.

Result - It must be a petrol issue. Perhaps fuse, fuel pump, or stale petrol.

Probably not so simple to diagnose with modern cars.

Check the simple things first, Is the battery fully charged? Ive had a "new" battery before that barely had enough charge to turn over the car

check you havnt pressed the batter disconnect button by accident

All lights up electrics work and start button lights up but just clicks. Diagnostic says hydraulic fault……

This is in the boot? It isn’t lit up to indicate I’ve disconnected and all the lights etc work. When I press start it kills the electrics though

Hydraulic fault? New one on me; no idea what that could be. Click could indicate a poor starter earth, or a poor connection at the battery (or a discharged battery).

Well battery is brand new and is charged etc. I’ll have to get it to garage to check connection etc in new year.

Appreciate the advice.

The switch is behind the drivers seat on the bulkhead, although usually when you have pressed it there is a warning message when you switch the ignition on, its worth checking though

Sportshift? Because to me "Hydraulic fault" potentially indicates the hydraulic pump that should be whirring when the doors open (to prime the gearbox pressure) may not be operating correctly. No idea if this would inhibit cranking, though
