V8V Mirror Problem

Bit of on odd one this.
Returned to the car (in an anti-karma way, this was having stopped to leave a note on a car after witnessing their mirror getting smashed off) and the mirrors wouldn't fold out. Had to push them out manually.
Since then, completely unresponsive and the LEDs in the control module no longer light up. No pan/tilt function either.
Have pulled the fuses, which got a bit of movement and ended up with them in the out position.
Still no lights on the control unit, but if I press 'R', they fold in. But won't fold out again.
If I pull the fuses, they fold back out (oddly, the left goes out straight away and there's a delay on the right). This is quite repeatable (press 'R', in, pull fuses, out), but obviously not ideal.
I'm wondering if the control module/switch has failed.
Any thoughts?
