I have an annoying squeak / rattle somewhere at the rear right corner of my V8V. It had new suspension and power flex bushes on the upper arms last year and I think it’s the power flex bushes that are making the noise.

However, yesterday I had the wheel off just to have a look around and spotted this wrapped around what looks like a subframe mount

It’s some kind of braided nylon strap and looks like it’s stuck fast in the mount - should it be there?

It looks like a dyneema sling, which are normally used in rock climbing.

strange indeed, but looking more closely, could be sort of safety thing,

like say what you see at some car rear suspension (on such steel non flex rear axle) for when you lift the car there is a stop cord so it can not go lower and so protecting it against damage things?

It's a strap that wraps around the hydromount to hold it together incase it fails.
