Aston martin vantage v8 LHD
Discussion
Good morning to all
I'm Alessandro, I'm writing from Italy, Olbia Sardinia
After many years of lotus elise s1After many years of lotus elise s1 (19 years) I am looking for an Aston Martin vantage v8 model 4.3 Year 2006,/2009 no model 4.7. This car will also be for many more years of my life.
I resumed reading the forum a few days ago to be prepared as much as possible.
I am looking in Europe for a Vantage in good condition. My budget is not very high, maximum £35,900.
I have seen that in England the prices used on pistonheads are good but unfortunately there is right-hand drive.
In Europe they are few and not all of them are well maintained
I ask you a question. Someone knows an owner of Aston who sells who has left-hand drive, maybe a European who lives in England.
Thank you
Alexander

Hi Alexander,
don't know of any person selling his V8, but have a look at :
autoscout24.be
mobile.de
Plenty for sale there (on autoscout, select EU as region to get full view).
Also, check with some main dealers, they sometimes get cars from customers that are upgrading and these usually are sold with Timeless waranty.
Good luck.
Frank

What a guy, you open another post, saying the car you are going to buy, you think that way to proceed, opening posts that confuse, the logical thing is that you have everything in the same thread of the subject,
yes of course one is free to open the posts that you want, but with criteria and sanity, because tomorrow, you will open another one with your decision
anyway .....
I smell the roast meat from a distance, ah!!! the machine

But I can understand that your answer is polemic. I don't understand the malice or why you write these.
But I can tell you that 3 or 4 people gave me excellent information.
Others like you lengthen the post with unnecessary comments, which don't help me do my research.
I am a serious person. I am a lawyer and nothing can give you the right to write these words
Of course there is the right to opinion, but yours is simply seriously Defamatory without any basis in fact and law.
If you smell burnt it could be your brain that doesn't think before writing
You are the classic subject who wastes time in the forums
Lo Sportshift 1 is not reliable, I understand this. It is robotized.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Only the 4.7 comes with Sportshift 2 gearbox.
Should I go on the 4.3 manual According to my research
I realized that the Sportshift 1 must always be driven with paddles and every now and then it must be "calibrated" with the procedure, perhaps I had too many prejudices about durability, but if used only with paddles it seems to have a long life.
But is the Sportshift 1 really a big deal for aston?
Thanks for the answers

I have not heard that the Sportshift gearchange is unreliable.
Not everyone likes it, because there are some driving techniques to use it at its best.
The first 4.7 cars do not have Sportshift 2.
I think Sportshift 2 is the 7 speed version, introduced for the 4.7 Vantage S.
Unless you really want Sportshift, the manual is easy to use and also quite fun, because almost no new sports cars have manual gearchanges any more. You might find comments about the gearchange from 1st to 2nd being stiff, after first driving away with a cold engine and gearbox. That is normal and when the gearbox oil is hot, everything is smooth.
Why have you dismissed buying a 4.7?
You can read a copy of the Aston Martin press release here, listing the changes.
https://www.germancarforum.com/threads/aston-marti...
There were many detailed improvements with that model, perhaps the most significant being more power and torque, and Bilstein dampers. I have read some PH mentions of the 4.3 Dynamics dampers leaking, or not performing as well as the Bilsteins. Therefore money spent to change.
Here is a discussion.

Do not be put off by the ss1…if you invest the time to learn to use it properly…it is quite rewarding to drive..there are many more ss than manual..I honestly don’t miss having a manual…if you havn’t already…try to drive one…best of luck..
Thank you for your advice From what I read in the forum it be guided like a manual.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
It should always be used in paddle mode and never automatically.
Also I should always put it in neutral when the car is stationary
And finally, when I change gears, I have to lift my foot off the accelerator.
Right?

No. This does nothing as the car will still hold the clutch in the "disengaged" position, ready for you to select a gear.Buzzi77 said:

Just a slight lift off, and only when changing up.Buzzi77 said:

Ltp nailed it….
Just more rewarding driving on the paddles…very slight lift off on shifting ..just like you would if using a clutch…I do engage neutral if I’m sat at lights for a while…not sure it makes a real difference…but it’s become a habit..lol
Until the one day you're daydreaming at a red light, the lights change, the guy behind pips his horn because you've not noticed, you wake up and, flustered, go to smartly move off and promptly hit the rev limiter in neutral.Just more rewarding driving on the paddles…very slight lift off on shifting ..just like you would if using a clutch…I do engage neutral if I’m sat at lights for a while…not sure it makes a real difference…but it’s become a habit..lol
But you do you.
