gas strut aston martin vantage
Discussion
Good morning everyone. My new aston martin vantage v8 manual 2006 will arrive on Friday
I'm very happy, I've been coming from an elise s1 of mine for 19 years, most of the small jobs I've always done
Photos will follow upon delivery here in Italy to my home
From a first inspection the car is in excellent external and internal condition but I noticed that the gas struts of the bonnet are from change.
I have read a lot of the forum about a 200 pages of various and useful information.
Do you know what replacement they are? I would like to buy them here in Italy now buying a spare part from the UK has become difficult for us.
You pay more for customs than for the order
It will be a simple spare part I suppose.
Thank you

Hi, and congrats on the car. I remember how I felt when I bought my Vantage, that was in 2016. I still have the car and still feel the same when I get in it and drive it even today. Brilliant cars, more than the sum of their parts. You will marvel at the little details, stuff like the metal finished petrol cap, the turned/knurled dipstick and its hand made stainless dry sump oil tank and yes even those alloy struts.
You can use SGS for the struts:

But these are common bits and you will surely find them in Italy to avoid the post Brexit costs, it will be just another lost order for a UK company. Be careful when stating simple facts about that particular subject, the ruinous damage it has done to the UK's economy is still denied by so many head-in-sand folks here.

According to the "Alternative Parts" thread the part number of the bonnet struts is
6G33-16C826-AB - V8 Bonnet Struts
This EU site
https://www.auto-doc.ie/car-parts/oem/6g3316c826ab
has them for just over €25 each, but you can search by the part number for anywhere closer to you

I just bought a set of genuine boot, bonnet and door struts for my Virage from The Aston Store. As with most retailers, they knock VAT off the prices because I am not UK based so that will hopefully offset some of your import costs.
