Hi

Just got myself a DBX 707

Love it !

However when I check the oil using the service menu, it just seems to hang on “measuring now”

For any other owners - any ideas ?

I’m not a fan of those ..much prefer a dip stick…on my wife’s Porsche…have to drive a bit before reading it..may well be the same system…

If its anything like our cars with electronic measurement the cars have to be driven until at least slightly warm before any measurement is actually given.

Congrats on your purchase Matt.
I’ve owned my DBX707 for two years now and really happy with it!
I echo what has been said on here, the reading will show after a while when the engine warms up, don’t expect to have a reading upon starting the car.
Over the last two years and more than 22,000 miles I have never had to top up.
But always safer to check the oil level just in case!
Happy motoring!

Thanks all

Tried again after a 45 minute journey and works fine - so as suggested the car just needs to be at temp.

Absolutely love the car

Matt

I found the following in my User Guide.
Not the same Mercedes-Benz engine, but might be a similar procedure.
Having the engine running is a new requirement to me.

Checking the engine oil level using the on-board computer
Requirements:
The engine has been warmed up.
The vehicle is parked on a level surface.
The engine is running at idle speed.
The bonnet is closed.

The engine oil level is determined during driving.
Determining the engine oil level can take up to 30 minutes with a normal driving style and even longer with an active driving style.

Who said modern life is simpler?

What's needed is some clever chap (other sexes are available) to invent something simple that could just be dipped into the oil reservoir to check that the quantity is correct. A 'posh' stick with a line marked on it might work. Then legislate that the stick should be dipped into the reservoir every Sunday morning and before any long journeys.

In this age of marketing the biggest problem would be deciding what to call this new stick that you dip into the oil. scratchchin

Similar issue I have on my 2012 audi Q5... only check is through on board computer, no dipstick.. .

Even though it can tell you if top up is needed, I would still like to look at the colour and quality of the oil myself...

Self Parking - Car drives past lots of perfectly good vacant parking bays, then I give up and park the car myself.

Lane Assist - Attempt to avoid a pothole on a clear road. Steer towards the centre white line, but the car then steers back into the pothole.

Emergency Brake - A helpful automated safety system, but I wish it would allow me to reverse into my own garage.

Stop/Start - Just very slightly twitch my brake foot muscle and the engine restarts too soon.

Voice Control - The automated lady tells me, "Santa Claus does not have a dog". Yes he has and it is called Santa Paws. smile

Looking lovely Matt! What colour is that? If you need winter tyres, they are now available for those 23 inch wheels. I had to buy another set of pricey 22 wheels with winter tyres when I bought mine a couple of years ago as they were not available in 23 at the time.
I would have swapped tyres on the same wheels otherwise like I used to do with my Range Rover.

It’s aluminite silver with carbon lower pack. I had my PPF installer add Stek carbon PPF to mirrors and side strakes and looks amazing - very close to factory

The car also has a dealer fitted Quicksliver exhaust and sounds nuts

Looking at the picture you posted, your car seems to have both lower and upper carbon packs fitted.
Interesting that you have a dealer fitted Quicksilver exhaust as my dealer refuses to change anything that is non OE on the car.
One of our fellow DBX707 owner and PH’er has a thread going on the woes of his car which has been quite problematic! I’m lucky to have a faultless car and I wish you the same!
Anyway, Nath mentioned in his thread he had the cats deleted on his car and it sounds wonderful.
I’m contemplating doing the same mod and going against my dealer’s advice regarding the invalidation of warranty.
His is the David Appleby Engineering cat delete.

Very tempting indeed.

The mirrors and side strakes were black gloss - but my PPF installer used Stek Carbon PPF and they look very like natural carbon for a fraction of the price

Yeah I was surprised on the exhaust too. Because they GPFs etc and the ECU were untouched - it was sold to me as a full timeless car

Very tempting indeed.
On the warranty issue ,I had my V12S secondary cats replaced with QS pipes from new and the Dealer was more than happy to put in writing that the warranty would be unaffected.

Thanks for the mention CSK, tbh the dbx has been great these last few months! To confirm yes I do have the DAE opf deletes, they are SO worth it. Much clearer v8 tone and doesn’t intrude on refinement either. Definitely a Goldilocks modification. Anything further would probably be too loud/obnoxious externally.

OP congrats on your dbx, I love the carbon packs, wise to PPF, I wasn’t feeling flush enough to specs those on mine as combined they were around £25k new!
