Back in the UK
Discussion
After two years of trying to relocate to France post Brexit we've been forced to give up and have moved back to the UK. It's become almost impossible if one wants to start a business and bring some assets in. What a difference to how I grew up, flitting from EU country to EU country. All our dreams and aspirations gone.
Now to get on with life back in blighty. All cars out of storage and moved to the new place which I found at auction, a proper bargain.
I don't suppose anyone knows of any decent AM specialists up in Cumbria other the relatively nearby (East Coast) Aston Workshop, though that outfit do seem well regarded. Time for a trip along 'route 66'....
We haven't even got our furniture here but I had to clean the garage and resurrect its elecs for the cars, natch.. his n hers.....

Anyway, back to the question, Aston Workshop do a good job, they serviced my DB9.2 once and all seemed fine. I didnt find them particularly cheaper than a main dealer. They do have a lot of nice old cars in their showroom and they do a lot of restoration work, so thats probably something you'd enjoy as part of the experience. I thought the pub the owner owns just a short walk away to be a bit meh but ok if you have a couple of hours to kill. And they are in Beamish which isnt east coast really, some great driving roads over the tops to get there from your side. If you go a bit further east to the coast you will get to AM Newcastle who have been looking after my DB11AMR since I bought it and the service from them is very very good.

Sorry it didn't work out but I admire the priorities list of safe space for the cars versus furniture !Now to get on with life back in blighty. All cars out of storage and moved to the new place which I found at auction, a proper bargain.

Why not try travelling north to Martins Aston Services near Glasgow. Family owned and run business that caters for all models of Aston. They have looked after my V8V for the last 10 years and are a pleasure to deal with. Not a bells and whistles company but very knowledgeable and work with you to keep costs under control. Train station close by so commuting to and from Cumbria shouldn’t be a problem if you have to leave your car with them. Now to get on with life back in blighty. Good luck in Cumbria, fantastic part of the country!
Thanks for the responses guys. Yes I've heard good things about Martins and it's an easy train ride. That place may end up being the go to place for the V8S.
We plan to develop some sort of glamp business on the land, so maybe I could consider organising some sort of meet/run up here in future. The roads here are fabulous and empty, if you bypass the lakes in high tourist season.

Hi Calinours.
It's a shame it didn't work out for you in France. It's a nightmare with the BS paperwork even if you were here pre brexit and now things are going digital for government departments, it's even worse. The French are world masters at developing virtually usless websites.
Cumbria is a lovely place I believe.
As for Indies. When we visit Cheshire to see the kids, I use A M Performance in Macclesfield, they are very good. They are also not too far from the train station which has links to Manchester, etc.
Good luck with the new house and glamping business.

Calinours, sorry it didn’t work out for you in France. It’s good to see you back on here as I’ve always found your posts very informative and well researched. But imho the route this thread has taken isn’t for this small part of PH. Keep it classy guys. If you want to rant about Trump or Brexit there are plenty of soapboxes to stand on in the NP&E forum.
