Audio problem

Hi all

I've lost all audio in my 2011 Vantage - nothing from satnav or music.

Aston at Nottingham have run some checks and they said there is a break in the circuit. This could be anything from a dodgy connector to a malfunctioning piece of hardware. They said it could take 3-4 hours to work through the whole system, potentially having to remove interior panels as they go round the car, trying to find the fault. So that's an enormous expense even before any replacement parts.

I cannot remember the last time listened to music (I enjoy the V8 too much!) and I use the TomTom app on my phone. When we were talking it occurred to me it hasn't worked since I had the cruise control retrofitted last year and the Aston guy was confident something probably happened then. I've contacted the guy who installed the cruise control and he didn't want to know. That's my polite summary of his attitude...

Does anyone have any thoughts / suggestions? Or know someone who can look at this at a far cheaper rate than an Aston main dealer (I'm in Rutland)?

My first thought for an audio issue on a VH Aston would be Aston Installations.

I would also look at a firmware upgrade. Your system needs upgrading from time to time just like your Iphone.
I had issues with my 15 Vanquish, screen kept blacking out and no stereo etc. did the upgrade and all good again.

AMDS says "ring not locked"? i just dealt with that as have many others. it is the MOST fiber optic system. usually a faulty module and you do have to take the car apart to test each module. first confirm that all the fuses in the CEM are good. if that is the case, a fiber optic loop tester is the usual method for identifying the errant module.

I had a similar problem in a Range Rover a few years ago....

In my case one of the units had failed in the rear (water had got in via a dodgy rubber seal) and it turned out that the entire system is based on one component passing a signal through to the next via an optical cable... if the first unit fails, everything else fails.

Range Rover quoted to replace the entire system (including the dash) at vast expense. My local independent fixed the system by repairing the cable to the first unit - hey presto, it all worked again.

It may not be the same with your Aston, but I thought I'd mention it. Hope you get it sorted.

I had the same issue on my old M3. The system works as a chain, so when one drops it takes them all down. You can buy “bypass” cables and then test which module is causing the issue -I started in the boot floor on the assumption it was water ingress and went around disconnecting and reconnecting the modules until I found it.

I fix my issue a few years ago by removing the Amp fuse from the boot, waiting a few second and put it back in. It reset the system and everything came back.

That's what Aston at Nottingham said when I first phoned them. It was only after they got the car they said it was something else.

Sounds like the easiest place to start so will give it a go
