New car sale commission
Discussion
When I was selling cars it worked out about £30 per car plus another £10-20 if they had finance. I would also get a bonus if my monthly margins got over a certain percentage. Worked about about £1-£2k per month depending on time of year, so not as much as most people think. I’d be surprised if a good salesman in any franchised dealer regardless of marque is earning over £35k pa.

This is a curious one and something I wondered about at the time - how much commission does a car salesman/salesperson get on the sale of say a £200,000 car?
I asked the question of someone who sold me 3 of mine and he just said a few hundred.
Do you think that may be true?
Selling cars for a living I can tell you all the work and for just selling the car around £250 if you have some add on’s maybe £20 each it will be even less on a used car &150 for and if the car makes a bit in profit which non hardly do after all the prep.I asked the question of someone who sold me 3 of mine and he just said a few hundred.

Everything has been looked at with the FCA regarding profit and what you can sell a car for and earn on the finance rate etc.
I wonder if anyone will look at McDonald’s and say you are earning too much profit per Big Mac we need to get involved and make you sell them cheaper!
New cars if the dealer sells the right mix of cars and the right number a month a a quarter it will unlock money for them but not the sales people.
Saying that I think America Is where the money is for sales!
