So we have reached a stage where the car has been in 5 times - 3 for the faulty window, two for the squeaky brakes - all fixed now thankfully. But yesterday the B&W Hi-Fi lost its bass. I’ve seen this happen before on a loan car, and thankfully it’s working again.

But having spent over £200K and having the support of the finance company we could be in a reasonably good position to achieve this.

We LOVE our car but we want perfection at this level, but we all know it s not achievable with this brand

Part of the charm I guess.
If perfection is your main criteria you should probably buy German but I find German cars a bit soulless.
I’d rather put up with the quirks on my Aston (although both of mine are near German perfect and troublefree).

You want to reject a car for those three trivial faults, two of which are fixed.

Good luck with that.

I appreciate it's annoying having to book the car in and being without it, but these things can happen with any car irrespective of price.

When I had a nearly new v12 manual Vantage in 2011, it went back for numerous things. It even had a complete new set of discs and pads..

I know you’ve spent a shed load of money and I agree they should be better at that price.. but there’s something about owning an Aston (well for me) that means there’s very few other cars, if any that I’d want to own.. And I therefore put up with these problems.
Aston are normally very good with their warranty cover, and if are were in your position, unless I had a strong second choice, I’d stick with it..

Yes sometimes they develop some faults with high mileage. Out of warranty too.
You can probably book her into a specialist and get some work done.

Is this a problem. Right now you are in control of what she is complaining about. Eliminate the car and who knows where her focus goes. smile

I get your frustration - even at a lower price point.

The washer bottle on my Vantage has split - again.

Easy half hour job to remove the wheel arch liner and swap it out, but it has to go in (HWM Walton) for the standard week.

Schedule it in, remove bottle, agree it s split, raise claim, send photos, wait, check one in stock (!), schedule a ramp, do the work.

Very frustrating - especially with a Roadster in this nice weather - but it does get sorted.

I saw a post once where the treble on the stereo was rubbish - turned out they d punched a circular hole for the speaker but not removed the circle of foam - I mean come on guys! Maybe that was one of the unfortunate people who d lost their job.

My wife does enjoy the experience of travelling in an Aston Martin, and I think is just bemused by the hours I spend keeping it clean inside and out. Re. the washer she did say, well you never use it anyway, as it makes the screen messy - she has a point.

Reject it for those trivial issues!?

Our Bentayga has the odd hissy fit and the engine management light comes on.

We call our dealer, they pick it up and it comes back a day or two later all cleaned and ready to go.

I wouldn’t dream of trying to reject it, you cannot expect 100% reliability on anything with software.

A few years back we had a new Range Rover, now that was another level of unreliability and I would understand someone wanting to reject that.

I don't think that is achievable with any brand, to be honest.

I think software things are one thing, but standard things and functioning quality management are something else entirely.

Especially things that were very obviously already present and detectable during the "final inspection" step.
Our new car creaks at every corner and end.

I think you've answered your own question. If you sell the car you LOVE (and which appears to have its niggles fixed) then you'll have to buy something you don't love in the hope it will be perfect.

Perhaps not perfection with Aston Martin, but so very nearly.
After purchasing my Aston Martin V8 Vantage in 2011, the only faults during the following 14 years have been;

Clutch - replacement.
Damper (drivers door) - replacement.
Battery - replacement.
Condenser (air conditioning) - replacement.

Tyres of course, but that is routine.
The car is still probably worth half my purchase cost.

Compare all that with everyday cars.
Do you think the majority of 2009 cars, might now have been scrapped?
Even if still being used, their values will be almost nil.

Aston Martin have done an excellent job. Very pleased, no complaints, especially as the car still retains its brand new appearance.

its probably disturbing you too, not only her and it can be understand but for me its has been the most reliable car, when i was driving it a lot, i fell the joy of a f1 car, and not having to bring it in every hours but every 2 years.... it has a sounded sometimes like the one77, and i never had to bring it back between services, upto 2 years sometimes or more not needed to go there, last time i was there its 4 years ago, some have chances you will think. I am not a mechanic but i think the parts are beautiful well made, and last.
But often during this time, or its their best friend, or its their wife who come and add up to the problem, its not really cool indeed, i remember a guy geting a xkrs beautiful rare ones and his friend was joking at him you now got an english car, many peeps laugh at aston etc on a regular basis cause its also a way to say, despite the fabulous car, i am able to criticize it and screw you, i am not sensible at all, and by the way i will break a litle more your pleausre/ gift.
i have no wife today myself, the last one took my kid to italy and i have not seen her. so this wont happen to me, lol.

what i see in the case of the best friend or English peeps criticizing aston, is a way to impose themselves.
the back seats are too small but you like the design, anyway i wish you the best with the car.

How much of a problem is the window giving you: mildly inconvenient or a major issue of arriving somewhere and it meaning the car is unsecured and open to the elements?

The former to me is continue to work with AM to get a fix; the latter is reject the car as I'd be apprehensive about driving anywhere lest the window fails.
