V8 Vantage Seats
Discussion
Hi all
I’ve owned my 2008 V8 Vantage N400 for five years and in that time I’ve focussed on getting it mechanically sound and on performance enhancements, along with the other usual stuff such as Apple Car Play etc.
I’m now in the process of getting quotes for a full respray and whilst it’s in the shop, I’m going to get some of the interior trim sorted (alcantara the hockey sticks and instrument binnacle, steering wheel re-trim etc) and I’d like to do something with the seats.
I was considering the Aston Lightweight seats but having tried them today, I found them not wide enough at the shoulders and my wife hated them! I used to like the standard seats in mine but I feel like they have got harder and less comfortable over time, but is that even a thing?? Or am I imagining it? Does the seat foam get harder over time?
Please excuse my ignorance, but keen to know whether it’s worth investigating getting the seats re-foamed or whether that’s a red-herring and I need to be looking at an alternative seat option if I’m looking to create my perfect car.
And yes, I know it is crazy to be so invested in a V8 Vantage rather than spending the money on ‘upgrading’ to a V12 Vantage or a Vanquish, but that horse has long-since bolted and it’s my favourite modern(ish) Aston and a keeper, so cost vs future ROI isn’t a consideration.
Any advice/insights/thoughts very welcome.
Cheers

Nothing wrong with optimizing your favorite car...
Usually the seats get softer with age, as the foam inserts degrade/soften somewhat.
What could make the seats feel harder is a foam decayed so much that you start feeling the steel frame parts underneath.
You can see the steel frame parts in the pic:

Of course, once you opened the seat, it is possible to optimize/alter local areas with different foam qualities.
