Would be good to get the reg number so that you can do a DVLA MOT check to look at the past MOT's, looks like it's been their since June by looking at the vehicle check list.

Are you happy with the optional extra, extra hard suspension?

Very strange price history on that...

up, down, up, down and back to just £1 more than where it started in June???

Appreciate its only a tiny variance at any one time, but why bother changing it so often for less than a haggling amount?

Listed 26/06/2025

Change
17/08/2025 £30,400

If this is your first one make sure you can cope with the ideosyncracies of the sportshift gearbox.

I had that Aston Martin glint in my eye & kidded myself that I could, but in fact I couldn't

Out of curiosity, how do you get the price history?
Do you have to have a premium Autotrader account?

Thanks

I’m sure you’ve done the standard Goggle search for the question:

So some things to look for

Corrosion, check these places for corrosion

Top of the windscreen where it meets the roof
Top of the doors
Look at the mirror arms as well as these can get corroded as well

the fuel filler cap sometimes can stick, so check that, if it does stick there is a manual release in the boot for it so not a big deal, but I would try it, this can be fixed by re-alligning the cap, its a well known problem

Check the battery is good, these don't like being stood and a weak battery can cause all sorts of weird problems.

Ours needed an O2 sensor, not long after we bought it, consequence of it being stood / not used for a few years by the previous owner.

I would take it for a test drive, as long as you dont treat it like a traditional torque convertor automatic, once you have the car moving the sport shift is ( IMHO ) fine, they arent perfect though and there is a knack to getting a smooth gear change but now I've got used to it, I get on with it OK, you want to drive it where you control it via the paddles, leaving it in "D" wont give a particularly great experience.

As thats a roadster I would check the roof all works, I am sure I read of the roof control module also making the car have weird electrical problems so make sure thats all in order

I'm not an expert, so hopefully somebody else can give you some more advice, but we've had ours 14 months and I dont regret it one single bit !

I see Sportspack wheels but it doesn't mean the car has the Sportspack. Worth asking though.

Thanks. I used to have an ‘automated manual’ gearbox in the f430 f1 so I’m guessing it would be a similar experience?

Sorry to hear that you didn’t get on with it. I’ve driven R8 with r-tronic and s-tronic ‘boxes and owned an f430f1 2005 so I would expect a similar driving style in the Aston?

The clue are the 5 spoke road wheels (unless after the car left the factory, someone has fitted those wheels).

Vantages of model year 2009 to 2012 have either standard suspension (hard) and 20 spoke alloys, or optional Sportspack, consisting of even harder suspension and 5 spoke alloys.

Lovely colour. Nice to see the light leather interior against the black. Usual issues corrosion around handles, bottoms of doors, sticking fuel flap, cracked piano black ski slope dash, corrosion on rear sub frame, sticking/rattling exhaust valves. All the above are problems that are fixable .

Some other points to check:

Run your hand along the bottom of the doors. This will check for bubbling of the paint - quite common.
Check the LEDs in the headlights and tail lights all work (put the hazard flashers on).
Check the mirror stalks, especially underneath, for corrosion.
Check all the motors work on the seats.
Check the exhaust - pull the fuse to make sure the cut-outs open.
Headlamp washers - do they work? The Vantage is notorious for breaking the mounts. Fixable, but awkward (headlights are c£1500 each).
Check the Aircon - expensive to fix.

Good luck!
