Hi I have a 2008 DB9 Le Mans edition, took track rod end apart to fit new rubber boot, put it back together but after winding nut down noticed it squashed the rubber boot and after i put the cotter pin in 5-6mm gap from castle nut to pin, looks like the conical insert that sits in the bowl of the track rod is missing, done the other side same result, looks like someone had tried to fix boot before me and somehow lost the part, the unit is all good(only done 30,000 miles)just want the inserts, does anyone know where I can beg, borrow, steal or buy this item without buying 2 complete arms for hundreds of pounds, hoping someone has a knackered arm that I can buy and retrieve the part to use as Aston will not sell it as a part, only the whole arm HELP Thanks Bavis

Yes, this happened to me too but the conical inserts were still attached to the old track rod end, what has happened to yours?

In my case I used a puller to remove the insert from the old track rod end and then reinstalled it into the hub with some loctite.

Hi I am afraid the person who had the car before me put the track rod end back together without the spacer which explained why the wheel was so loose, luckily I received the car on a trailer as a non runner so am still putting it back together so no damage done, but as usual A.M.will only sell you the complete arm with track rod end for north of £300 and I need both sides done!! Thanks for prompt reply, looks like I will have to get the lathe running and manufacture my own spacers!!!

Depending on the outcome of your lathe work, David Appleby Engineering can offer individual rod ends. bounce

The tie rod ends are pretty affordable - they are these: MEYLE 616 020 0007 Tie rod end. But the part you seek is a rarer find indeed!

Wow that spacer looks pretty battered. You might need to see if you can get one from a breakers or buy a hub with it included (which will be expensive).

When i took apart my front suspension, these were 'stuck' on my old tie rods and I had to use a ball joint splitter and heat to get it off (Glad I was wearing goggles and dark trousers when it finally came off).

Places like David Appleby might have a spare one they're willing to sell.
