Hi folks,

Another foible of my new-to-me '13 DB9 that I'd like to diagnose:

I did a 300 mile drive yesterday, and with just 15k miles, that was probably the first time the car has moved that much in a number of years. Everything went fine, however at my destination I noticed a few drips of brake fluid underneath the brake pedal in the cabin.

I took the shielding off the bottom of the steering column and noticed what appeared to be a bit of brake fluid "spray" by the boot on the booster that dripped down the pedal and on surrounding surfaces. It's a 360 degree spray, even above the booster. It's not hemorrhaging or anything, and the brakes function fine, but its enough to create some drips and coat things in fluid over a 5 hour drive, and fluid definitely shouldn't be there.

I'm suspecting this is a brake booster seal leak, where fluid is leaking past the seal on the master cylinder, through the booster, and then into the interior through the push rod seal. I've never seen fluid leaking into the cabin in any other car, though, so I wanted to run it by y'all...am I missing anything?

I can't view the photos - says 'not available in my region'. Try the 'Upload an image' function under the smilies in the Reply window.

Did you buy the car from a dealer or privately? I hope this and the seat are the only things faulty.

I am too new to post links or upload, unfortunately, so I had to remove the h.t.t.p.s from the link. If you add that back, it should load.

I bought the car privately - it's immaculate otherwise. I knew about the seat (and don't expect it to be a huge deal), but was unaware of the brake fluid issue. It doesn't look like it's too difficult to remove the booster and master if needed, and it seems to be a Jaguar cross-reference, but I want to be thorough before I throw parts at it!

I would also suggest you get the transmission fluid changed if it hasn't been done. It may be called 'sealed for life' but it can and does fail.

Well folks, we can close this one out!

I spoke to the PO….he sprayed some clear silicone up there before I picked up the car to resolve a squeak. It must have dripped down while I was driving home.

Phew!

Thank you all for your help on this!
