My "As Ian Drew It" Ideal Stance Setup for DB9
Discussion
I always thought that the production DB9 was a bit higher than it should be, and the while the OEM wheels look great, their offset is pretty bad....setting them far into the fenders. Not the look that Ian Callum called for in his original design sketches, but hey, the factory had to account for the less 'discerning' driver who might encounter curbs and ramps!
For those of you who want the fitment to match Callum and Fisker's original sketches for such a beautiful car, I wanted to share my ideal setup with factory wheels (which isn't too hard to achieve)!
Suspension:
Eibach "Blue" lowering springs (1" drop)
Front Axle:
Tire - 245/35/20
Wheel - OEM 8.5x20 ET 50mm
Spacer - Bolt-on 18mm
Rear Axle:
Tire - 305/30/20
Wheel - OEM 11x20 ET 62
Spacer - Bolt-On 23mm
New Front Offset: 32mm
New Rear Offset: 39mm
IMO, this is ideal. There is no rubbing whatsoever, in fact there is a ton of extra space in all directions. The tire sits just inside the fender (no poke), so it has a real OEM+ look. A little wider rear tire fills out the fender nicely and gets rid of the factory stretch. No longer does the car have the severe "skips leg day" look of hugely sunken in wheels.
There is no negative impact on performance or handling. Please spare me the "hur dur spacers bad" nonsense... Spacers are totally safe as long as they're high quality and installed properly. I ordered mine (and have for a decade) from www.motorsport-tech.com .
On a side note, I always suggest nicer lug nuts to make sure you have plenty of thread contact - the factory Ford ones don't actually start threads until like 8mm back. I just ordered open-ended M14x2.0 lug nuts that fit standard Ford products for like $15, and they're perfect.

Lovely looking car and I agree with the sentiment but there s a touch too much tyre stretch there for my taste.
Perhaps a wheel with a flatter face, an even lower offset and a more square tyre would work?
There's only so much you can do without going Aftermarket Wheels. I wasn't prepared to spend a few thousand bucks on Vossens or some other nice forged wheel yet. Definitely an option for someone who wants an even flatter look.Perhaps a wheel with a flatter face, an even lower offset and a more square tyre would work?
On tires, the Funny thing is: the rear tires are actually WIDER than OEM spec, and still look a tad stretched. They're 305 vs the factory 295. Each tire brand has a slightly different sidewall spec, but I would say you could go 315 in the rear and be okay. I tried 255 in the front and it looked a little too meaty. I may switch to Continental tires next time around, since they tend to look less stretched.
