AM Reading & Timeless
Discussion
Hi all,
Has anyone had any recent experience purchasing from AM Reading (Pangbourne) that would care to share an experience good or bad?
Additionally, does anyone know if a car that’s missed an annual service actually still qualifies for the Timeless programme/ warranty? I’m new to the brand and a lot of info I’ve found regarding this seems to be from a while back and I understand the provider has changed since.
Service history they have provided is:
04/01/21 6,745
25/02/22 15,538
23/01/23 24,724
29/01/25 29,727
Not a great deal of miles covered between the 2023 and 2025 service but it should have had one in 2024. Am I likely to come unstuck with this in the future when extending the warranty?
Thanks.

Contrasting use periods, so I wonder if two different owners.
2021 to 2023 was about 10,000 miles annually.
2023 to 2025 was about 2,500 miles annually.
Perhaps in 2024, the owner might have decided there was no need for service after only 2,500 miles.
Regarding future extended warranty.
Many owners on here had the assurance of 1 year after purchase warranty. If no problems occur during that period, then there is some confidence to continue without a warranty. I did that and by have now probably saved £25,000. Enough for a new engine, but that still sounds in perfect order. There will be far more people who have a warranty but never claim, than do make claims. Rather like home insurance.
There was a poster last year on here who said they had had their timeless warranty claim rejected because of incorrect service intervals despite the AM dealer providing the timeless warranty with the car at purchase. Whether that anecdote is completely accurate and true or not, I would want something in writing from the dealership to ensure this issue around future warranty claims due to a missed annual service is nothing to worry.
I bought a 2016 DB9 with 20k on the clock from them before Xmas. James assured me that they knew the car well through its prior owners and that it was a good one.
I subsequently had a thorough post purchase inspection by an independent Aston specialist, Trinity Engineering. This validated that indeed it was a clean car.
The only issue I had was the tailgate/boot lid damaging the paint on the bumper (which apparently is not uncommon). Pleasingly, Reading were very quick to offer a full repair.
So yes, I can recommend Pangbourne.
As the car is approaching its 10th year, I won’t have the option to extend the Timeless warranty.

From what I have seen/ read the later cars seem to have niggles rather than any major issues. My intention was to purchase an additional 12 months warranty at point of purchase as the cost is less than renewing at the end of 12 months and see how it is in that period. As you have touched on though, self insuring may be the way as long as it's a good car.

I saw this when searching and think it was complicated by the fact it was both a private sale and the warranty hadn't been transferred. Having just received the T's & C's from the dealer, it does state that the warranty won't cover any claim where the cover has not been validly transferred. They were correct regarding the servicing schedule however as the same document also states that "failure to comply with the service schedule may invalidate the warranty with a max allowance of 1,000 miles either side of the stipulated service schedule or four weeks either side of the stipulated time period is permitted".68Jaybee said:

Thank you for sharing, good to know they stood by the car when you raised an issue. From what they have sent to me, you can now extend up to the 20 year point if that's of any use?I subsequently had a thorough post purchase inspection by an independent Aston specialist, Trinity Engineering.
