Reversing sensors
Discussion
I've been doing smoe winter maint and looking at why my reversing system doesn't beep as expected. After discovering that the long tone when first selecting reverse is an indicator of error and being advised to get on my knees with a toilet roll inner and having a good listen; I've established that the two sensors on the rear right are not working.
One of the earlier posts suggest that :
Parking sensors are the same as Ford Focus and various Jags and Land Rovers. Same part code front and rear, although for the rear ones, the code is for the sensors that plug into the metal bracket, rather than the one stuck to the back of the bumper with double sided sticky tape.
1X43-15K859-AC Is the part code - cheap as chips on eBay unless you buy the one for an Aston Martin !
However I'm struggling to find any guides on how to actually replace them. Is it a bumper off job or a home job on my back . do they simply unclip ?
car is on 06 4.3 Vantage

Do you know which sensor has failed? If you put the car in reverse, and the key in position 1 (you don’t need to start the car), you should be able to hear the working ones ticking.
The 2 in the middle are easy to replace from behind without removing the bumper, I’m not sure about the outer 2 though.
I bought some cheap eBay ones which worked initially but seemed to break within a few days. I ended up buying an Aston one which has been fine. I might have got unlucky, so might be worth trying a higher quality non-Aston part.
