Hi, lately my business has been going well and I'm thinking of buying a used 570s.
I have the vantage v8 2006 which is my dream is perfect, beautiful used every day, elegant and with timeless lines
Just a beautiful car
But I miss the rear engine, the short front bonnet and I was looking for a mclaren 570s
The doors are like a supercar, The line is rougher but still beautiful.
I studied the v8 Turbo and is a point against McLaren, as is the assistance and some known problems.
I'm afraid I regret buying the mclaren for my aston
I can't keep two. At the very least I could buy the mclaren, if I then realize that I have the wrong choice I sell it and buy the Aston again.
What would you do?

I like McLaren as well, but they are definitely supercars, while the Vantage is more of a sport GT. I looked into a 12C some time ago but definitely decided against for the lack of GT factor, namely better comfort, bigger boot, more room. I do have a daily, but I very much like being able to take my current 2020 Vantage to do whatever I want. But this might not be important to you, maybe?

Also, I believe you are based in Sardegna, every service would be a nightmare, no? I also don't think they are many Aston specialists on the island, but at least the VH V8 engine is a fairly easy engine to maintain compared to the McLaren. Don't also forget road conditions, a 570S will scrape absolutely everywhere there.

Finally, reliability, I have heard some bad stories about McLaren, here and in real life, do some researches.

But surely the 570S, performance-wise, is absolute in another league that your current Vantage.

You framed my doubt well. I come from 20 years of lotus elise s1. The ultimate in inconvenience made in the car. Aston has been a dream since launch.
With Elise I had no problems on the roads of Sardinia. It was very low as you know
Instead, I evaluate the assistance discourse, car coupons.
As you said the v8 vantage can also be made by an independent. Aston parts can also be found aftermarket.
Is the MC's twin-turbo V8 engine difficult for an independent to tackle?
I'll tell you the truth, I wouldn't take the step just because MC is too flashy and I don't like the eyes on me very much.
I'm also considering a gallardo 570 Lp. No less conspicuous but perhaps with more assistance.
Thank you for your impressions.

One reason why I also bought one of the last R8 coupe’s made in Performance plus ,carbon black spec.
Maybe a supercar ( views differ ) but utterly reliable and not that more to run than my wife’s RS4.
I also wasn’t “ allowed “ to buy a Lambo.

The Mac will be a different world to the Aston, they're seriously fast (not just straight line speed) and will make your Aston feel like a 'normal' car in comparison. It's also a true supercar, which may or may not be an additional intangible benefit to you. I'll never forget following a 600LT on a driving tour, I have never seen something sit down and F off up the road like that did - it made my 2019 Vantage seem broken in comparison! I know they get grief online for not sounding great, however in person they sound the real deal - especially compared to brand new cars that now have stricter noise controls and filters.

I've been sorely tempted to go for one, especially as here in the UK they're relatively 'cheap' compared to equivalent Ferrari's etc, however the horror stories of ownership put me off. My nearest main dealer is nearly 2 hours away, so even with a warranty the inconvenience would be material. My Aston seems to enjoy going back to the dealer multiple times a year, and I have no doubt that a Mac would be worse.

I used to have a VH era Vantage, and looked at the 570GT before getting my new (2019) Vantage, so can comment across the three cars.

The 570 looks very cool and real 'supercar' vibe to it, but I found the interior to be a bit underwhelming compared to the Aston - a bit too stark and materials felt lower quality. The seating position is also much lower - again feels very supercar, but probably not great on low visibility tight British B roads. The storage space is also pretty minimal. The front 'boot' is significantly smaller than that on a Vantage, so anything more than a weekend bag is going to be a struggle. Probably fine if you just want it as a second 'fun car' though.

I ended up getting a 2019 Vantage and love it. Engine sound is much nicer than the 570, it is still plenty fast enough for our roads, but also feels really useable when driving around at normal speeds or cruising on a motorway.

Both cars are a big step up from the VH era Vantage. New Vantage feels (and is) wider, so still getting used to placement on tighter roads, but sure it will be fine after a while. For the same money as a 570, I'd definitely say to go and have a look at the post 2018 Vantage too...

Very, very valuable your answer. Perhaps I could not have wished for better. Okay. I understand your speech and I think like you. I would only sell my v8 for the 2024 vantage. Sorry but the 2018 v8 vantage I don't like the headlights and the front air intake. The snout in a nutshell.
The rest is fabulous.
Facing an expense for the 2024 vantage now is neither fair nor appropriate.
I will wait a few years.
I was also considering a lamborghini LP 570, but in my opinion your speech also applies to it
Astons spoil you for
Thank you

Personally, I've never taken too well to a McLaren, or any Porsche for that matter. R8 was/is my next car on a life list of cars to own as soon as I tire of my present DB11 V12. I usually last about 2 years before I am bored, but the DB11 is now on year 3 with no end in sight. I just really love this car.

Recently added a 675LT Spider to go alongside a VH V12VS manual. Very different apples. Any McLaren is in a very different performance envelope from the Vantage and a world away in terms of feel. I love the Vantage and it’s a keeper.

I noticed on your post on the other thread that you live in Sardinia. Personally this would rule out a McLaren in my book. The Vantage is much more conventional and easier for a generalist to maintain and your nearest McLaren dealer would be Milan.
