Convertible top/instrument cluster
Discussion
I have a 2011 V8 Vantage S Roadster. Was having convertible top issues...movement pause/failure, the the instrument cluster going off and on intermittently and several warnings coming up...air bag, tire pressure, emission system. All typical signs of a roof module failure. Replaced the module with a new one (not something from ebay) and had it programmed by a not-too-helpful Aston dealer. Now I'm seeing: instrument cluster dark on start-up but lights up after about 30 seconds to a minute. Roof movement pauses 3 or 4 times during open/close procedure. Air bag, tire pressure, etc warnings on the instrument cluster. The car starts and runs fine and the battery was replaced 18 months ago and stays on a CTEK when not being driven. Car is garage kept. Can anyone tell me what to check next and how to narrow this down? Terribly frustrating.
It's frustrating. Seems to me it's a bad ground or pinched wire somewhere, but that's a total guess. Could be the battery, though it doesn't seem likely. I don't know where to go from here and hope someone can help. Everything I've read says to replace the CRM, have it programmed and you're good. Not in my case. If I figure it out I'll post and update. Would appreciate if you do the same.
Very odd because these are classic roof module failure signs but you say a dealer has changed it!
It’’s easy to test though.
The module Is located behind the liner in the rear wheel arch (yes outside!). From memory, you can access it quite simply with the rear wheel off. If you unplug it, the roof will not work but you can drive the car normally. If the dash errors don t pop up, you ve found your gremlin.
It was explained to me that because the roof/rollbar is a safely part, if the module goes the can bus injects error messages and warnings, hence the dashboard lighting up then going off!

Thanks for the reply, but I'm well beyond that point. I did replace the module myself and had the dealer flash it. (They wanted to charge 2 hours labor to replace it and it's a 20 minute job.) An easier way to test if the module is causing the problem is to just remove the fuse, which is obviously easier than removing the wheel to access the module. My problem seems to be a faulty CEM due to it being the only common denominator in all of the symptoms I'm experiencing. I'll know in a week or so if I'm correct.
