Getting my wings back
Discussion
Hi all, after about 6 years since selling my beloved V12V following a house move to Norfolk, I’m so pleased to have purchased a 2023 Vantage V8 from the brilliant team at Bristol yesterday.
No doubt like other lapsed AM owners I have done plenty of lurking and general skulking about in the intervening years building up knowledge from all of the helpful folks on here.
As many will know, the roads here in Norfolk are not fabulous and I fully thought a DB11 might fit the bill being more of a GT, certainly more so than the V12V ever was. After test driving a DB11 and Vantage, the DB11 (V12 AMR) was great and sounded fab, albeit different from a NA V12, but somehow didn’t feel quite right for me. However, once settled in the Vantage, there was no doubt which of the two would be my choice.
Thanks to Tom at Bristol for all his help and finding some awful road surfaces to replicate those here in Norfolk.
It’ll now be a long 2 weeks to wait for collection. Can’t wait!

Congratulations on acquiring your new Vantage. It looks stunning. I too was out of Aston ownership for a while; two and a half years, having sold my DB11 and saying to myself that it would definately be the last Aston I would own. And that was OK for a year, by which time 'definitely be' had turned into 'probably be', and then a month or two after that, 'probably be' had become 'probably not be'. And so, around February last year I became obsessed with ownership once more. Well, they just get under your skin don't they ? Ten months later, in November, I found just the car, at the now no longer AM Chichester; a rather beautiful DB11 AMR in liquid crimson.
This one will definitely be the last .

Congrats Padley, lovely! Just try to post bigger pictures once yours!
If you need something to pass time during those two weeks, I detailed my trip before, during and after having bought mine, here.
It could be a nice source of info for the AM6 model.

Thats a good looking car Padley, love the colour and the wheels ... congratulations on your purchase, I'm sure you will love driving it around Norfolk.
Cheers BiggaJ, it’s AM Racing Green with a very nice spec from a previous owner. A bit like an F1 Edition without the dynamic upgrades and aero.Octavarium said:

Yup, I can definitely relate to your feelings. Astons do get under our skins and the folks I had the pleasure of meeting during my previous ownership of a V8V and the V12V made it even more special. I look forward to getting those ‘feels’ again soon. This one will definitely be the last .

Lovely looking car! Whereabouts in Norfolk are you? I'm in Wymondham.
Have just got back from an AMOC brunch in Long Stratton, which included a trip to Stratton Motor Company. Next big event is Sandringham at the end of May when we usually get a big turnout.
Regards, Steve

I’m near Fakenham so hopefully we’ll meet soon. Cheers for the Sandringham tip, I’ll look into that. My neighbour went to a previous event there and said it was a great turnout.
Hope we can meet soon, Paul

And I’ll thank you now as I read your post whilst away recently. It really helped and Tom at AM Bristol was really impressed that I was asking about air vents, drooping sun visors, touchpads etc whilst on our test drive!
