Finally bought an Aston
Discussion
I've had an Aston in mind for at least 20 years but it was never quite the right time for various reasons. Over that period I went through looking at DB7 Vantage to DB7GT, to DBS to Vanquish. For various personal reasons it reached the stage last year where I just decided to put all the excuses not to do it to one side and get on with it.
I'd always wanted a big GT as MrsT and I love a good road trip and most of our best holidays have been driving from place to place and finding unexpected things en route. With this in mind I knew that it would not be a Vantage and the DB11 just didn't do it for me. The Vanquish stood out as the last of the proper Astons and what I really wanted.
I spent 2 years waiting for the right spec to come up - blue with a light interior. Ideally Ocellus Teal, but Midnight or Ultramarine would be a close second. I really did not want silver or black. Eventually I realised that I could be waiting forever for something that might not even exist so needed to compromise otherwise I'd be putting it off forever. There was a stunning red one with a black interior but that felt too claustrophobic and I made the decision that it needed to be a light interior and, as most of the time I'd be looking out from the inside, I was more willing to compromise on the exterior colour.
A few months later I finally found my car. I was a bit unsure about the colour at first as pictures don't do it justice. In reality it is stunning and really grows on you, changing between green, grey, brown and copper depending on the light. The interior is two tone with bitter chocolate seats and ivory up top.
I bought it last autumn with 17k on the clock and have already done 3k which included a trip down to the lower part of France where it performed faultlessly.
Here are the obligatory pics - cumberland grey S.
