DBX pricing and ownership
Discussion
Hi,
As my age is catching up on me and my better half we are looking for something a little more comfortable that can take the grand children and do long journeys,
We have had 3 vantages and would like to stay with AM, so it’s good news the DBX exists.
Prices for the 550 seem to have stabilised around a little over 80k, with less depreciation happening .
Do people think they will slide drastically from here in the next couple of years ? Big SUV can drop off quickly, but the premium ones fair better.
Given I’m pretty happy at the price point, what are people’s ownership experiences? I think they are the best looking in the sector, and the ride/handling reports well.
If you’ve had one or own one , would you buy another. ?
If they still made the Rapide that would be interesting, but alas not so.
Thanks for any thoughts

Those 550s are a pretty good deal. As far as holding value, it depends on how much mileage you put on it. Since its an SUV, normal mileage probably isn't a big deal, but if you put a lot on it, the value likely goes way down.
One thing that might not be obvious is that its a couple of inches wider than the current Vantage, so if you have a garage that's tight, make sure it fits.

Wayne,
I know you're looking at the DBX 550, but don't overlook the DBX 707. We purchased a new 2023 DBX 707 and have racked up 34,000 miles so far. It is by far the best vehicle I have ever driven! It's fast when you want it, smooth when you want and always classy! I'm sure the 550 might give 80% of the speed with all the class. I am certain that financially buying a used DBX would have been the smarter move, but someone had to be the first owner!
We have had (and have) many other performance vehicles. The DBX is the do everything 4door Sports Car!

I agree with Ted, ours is a 550 and is the complete package, purchased 2nd hand but low kms, classy, plenty quick, great for trips, in the country, on holidays to the snow or to the dump. I’ve had it on the track at AMOC nationals and unbelievably it was as quick as the Vantages.
Get one with a warranty if you can as we have had a few little niggles but nothing serious. No major service issues - now almost 40,000km
Graze

For ownership experience , there s a long thread on here from a DBX owner, but I can t find it while browsing on my phone.
Here it is, in the Readers’ Cars section of PH. He used to pop up in this AM part of PH quite often but I’ve not seen him post for a fair while. His DBX ownership story is a long interesting read and I think it’s fair to say there have been lots of ups and downs.

I read most of nathwraith's experiences with his 707. It often depressed me, as his experience with the 707 was vastly different to ours. We have owned ours for almost 4 years (2023 DBX707) and it has been everything you could ask for. It has been mostly reliable (knock on wood), fast, fun, luxurious and a jack of all trades vehicle. We have done everything with it except tow a horse trailer.
The only down side is the Poor experiences with the local Aston Dealerships (The local dealership changed hands a few years ago and neither has been good to deal with) during annual services. That being said, the only down side for me is the depreciation of buying a new Aston. However, I think that applies to any Aston that you drive for 34,000 miles. Would I do it again? Absolutely!
So by all means read Nathwraith's review, but understand that not every DBX has the number of faults that he experienced. (As stated above, try to purchase one with at least a 1 year warrently to take care of any niggles.)

I've never really tried the "Comfort" seats, so I can only comment on the Sport seats. They are firm, but very comfortable. Most of our trips are short, 15-45 minutes, but we have driven a few 2-3 hour drives and have no complaints. We have yet to take a longer (6-8) hour drive, but assume they would be tolerable. If you prefer the comfort, as they appear much more common in the 550, I would think they too would be comfortable.
