I heard a while ago if the wiper unit has a problem you need to separate the body from the engine transmission.

It's because the engine is installed as far back as possible so the wiper unit is unaccessible.

Its silly things like this that keep me worried about warranty expiry.

My Vanq 2 has spent at least 5 months this year at AM with a recurring emissions fault.

It was an engineering compromise. I could write one of my interminable posts going into the detail behind this and why the 2C cars have a different solution, but I'll refrain.

All I will say is how many wiper mechanism failures have you heard of? And, to put it into context, you have to drop the engine out of a V8V if an inlet tappet goes out of spec and starts ticking.
