Happened twice over the weekend; car parked up safely and locked. Boot, doors, windows, glovebox all closed.

Alarm goes off with no reason that I can see. Are the internal sensors very sensitive and I may have have a spider crawling about in there? Using 'Reduced Guard' mode at the moment (Roadster) but that's not a solution I want long term.

Any thoughts, is it a common issue? Car gives the dash warning of 'alarm activated, check vehicle' when I put the glass key in afterwards.

Certainly possible that a spider could do that and if you have ruled out anything else.
Are there any cobwebs or strands ?

Not as many as the Mini but I'll try some bugspray tonight. I was wondering if it's a common thing is all and if there was a known / reset/fix.

Where are the sensors in a 2010 Roadster, anyone know?

i've had issues with both boot and bonnet microswitches triggering the alarm. Are you getting any false messages about either of those being open?

The cars in my barn that don’t get driven frequently occasionally have a strand or two and a small spider but a quick swipe of a cloth removes.
Never had an alarm issue - yet.
We have more issues with the hard wired and linked smoke detector system in the house which needs a hoover occasionally !

Not uncommon for the boot or bonnet switch to trigger.

No, nothing. Thanks for that though, definitely something to keep an eye on.

For now I'll just wipe down every surface and test it again tonight.

FWIW - Another pointer is if you're out on a drive and random warnings about an open boot, bonnet, etc. popping up.

Have a look around the car and engine bay for signs of rodents.

Is the battery backup sounder working ok? if the battery is going, or there is corrosion in the unit, that can trigger the alarm sounding.
Part number BG43-37-11254

Common across a number of models and seems to range in price

I've had that happen to me 3 times this summer. I once this summer had a false error about the hood being open.

How old is the battery? Would t surprise me if this is an early warning that it’s in the way out.

I've the same. On my side it's the bonnet micro switch issue. I have some warning while driving when the engine is hot and the weather too.
Reduce hard or not, the alarm is triggered and it's annoying. Any way to disable the alarm?

Don’t know, the car has only been with me a few months. That is entirely possible though, thanks for the heads up.

i closed the boot and a few hours later the alarm triggered. the boot looked closed but i pushed it down harder and it clicked. most likely it is the boot or bonnet switch, either legitimate (not fully closed) or the switch is faulty or poorly adjusted, as others have said

That's worth checking, thanks.
