Wheel balancing issue and solution
Discussion
I picked up a nail a couple of months ago in my DB9, naturally close to sidewall of the front tyre necessitating a replacement.
Subsequently, I notice vibrations in the steering at around 70mph, so I took the car back to the tyre shop and asked them to rebalance it again. They claimed that the wheel was already balanced, but made a minor move in the weights to see if this would correct it.
The issue persisted though evident at a slightly different speed , oh well think I’ll get an Aston specialist to sort it out when it gets serviced next month.
A couple of days ago, I noticed that I’d gotten a nail in the other front tyre, which I presume was well jammed in as the pressure remained sound. I got this fixed (thankfully not a new try this time). The balancing issue now perfect and the car drives fine. On reflection, I must have picked up both nails at the same time, thank you very much Mr Builder 👷♂️ what a thoughtful fellow you are where ever you are.
Amazing to think that a nail weighing a gram or two is enough to unbalance the wheels. Me thinks that Astons have a princes and the pea type complex.
