What are you looking to do with your Z1? May be worth trying their marketing department, as I suspect you will have a better chance of any response.

It's related to his historical connection to the Z1; he was head of BMW Technik in the early days of the Z1's development.

as he's no longer with BMW I doubt he'd talk to you. You'd probably be better off going to BMW's historic department first

Oh, did you know his house in germany has a Z1 inside. And the very last narrow body 993 (he was involved with this car too). Quite a CV...!

I'm a firm believer in 'you never know unless you do something'. Just because he's a busy bloke or isn't at BMW anymore doesn't mean he won't reply or that his love of past projects has diminished. If he doesn't reply then so be it but there's no harm in posting a letter and you're not losing anything by doing so.
