Hi Guys

anyone know which colour the DB9R is. I thought it might be California Sage but it looks a little darker than that.

I ws thinking of the colour for a race car but wanted to check first which one it was.

Many thanks

Owen

I believe that the DBR9's are Aston Martin Racing Green which is a stunning colour and totally different from the 'Fast Track' production colour of California Sage.

To confuse matters, some of the old Aston Racers, such as DP212, were and are painted in California Sage, which is a very long standing Aston colour, while others, such as the old DB3S's were painted a more traditional British Racing Green, which I would define as what Bentley call Barnato Green. This arises from the fact that there really is no defined BRG, nor has there ever been, the teams just suit themselves.

I don't know what the origin of BRG is, perhaps someone can enlighten us.

I think the DBR9 green is a stunning colour, it looks good clean or dirty! Aston should have made more of it (PR wise)IMO. It's a shame we see so few modern Astons in green compared to the DB7 days.

If you are asking the AM factory or AM dealer it was called "DBR9 Racing Green" - a modern paint mix of Aston Martin Racing Green.

You're probably right - mind you it's so contemporary you could specify it on a DB5. Actually green is a lovely colour in it's various shades, but everyone is so much in thrall to conventional wisdom about resale values that they are scared to specify it. I would be fascinated to know the statistics on production numbers against different colours.

There are two colours AM Racing Green and Almond Green which are subtly different.

Yep Almond Green is more 'appley' if you know what I mean, personally I prefer it slightly, it 'pings' more in sunlight than AM Racing Green. It is for sure the best Aston Colour....IMO...but then again I am just slightly biased....

Am I breaking one of the 10 commandments if I admit to coveting your car?

It looks gorgeous, I admit, but it looks as if you have basically bought a new car then entered it for a concours. Is that not cheating. What about the hours of labour to achieve originality? I know the objective is to have the car as it left the factory, but it surely defeats the object if it only left the factory a few hours before!
