Guys - I now need a copy of this if anyone has one?? Or knows where to get one for that matter!
Google = fruitless.

ETA: It's also for the headlights.

Not sure if it's related but I had one of the ballasts on our HIDs fail last year.
More about it at the foot of this thread

If it's nothing to do with a headlight being out then ignore!

I wish it was as simple as that!!
Unfortunately the circuit board in the headlight has failed - which means the LED strips no longer light up. I have managed to get the circuit board out of the headlight but now I need to try and fix it. The guy looking at it wants a wiring diagram to help him locate the problem!

I wouldn't raise your expectations.
The wiring diagram is likely to show a feed leaves the electronic control module for the left hand side LED strip and another feed leaves the electronic control module for the right hand side LED strip.
It's not going to give any clues as to what has failed on the LED strip PCB.

Fundamentally I think it's 12volts into the LED strip and it works.... or in your case doesn't.

Good luck

IIRC some one had this issue a while a go and found a place to get the board repaired?

It's unlikely to be the LED's themselves as none work.

Can you post a picture of the PCB? It might be an obvious fault to someone who knows what to look for.

Also, can't you buy 24 hours of consultation of technical documents on the Aston website? Surely they would have electrical diagrams on there, but no way will there be the detail of the PCB - just schematics of what goes to the headlight, wire colours and gauge, etc.

Hmmm. Unless one of them is "shorted" taking the rail down and in the process all the other LEDs (but not breaking them). Could end up being two issues. One LED and a reg.
Or it could be a mouse. biggrin

Thanks guys - it's the PCB - 100%.

Have got a computer tech looking at it who knows exactly what to look for and has told me that nothing obvious is broken on it. He doesn't want to just start replacing parts hence the query to get the wiring diagram which he said may help pin-point which part to fix.

RE the last person who had theirs fixed; they sent it to someone who replaced everything on the board at a cost of £400, which is not the route I want to take. If I can work out exactly what controls the LED's then I only need to replace those parts.

knowing a little about electronics and computer techs, its not difficult to see there is nothing obvious and identifying it as a PCB fault. Doesn't really get you very far. Sorry if it sounds harsh, but if the LEDs are failing as a whole I know its a PCB fault without looking at it. A manufacturers wiring diagram will not go down to component level. It will only show the light unit as a whole as a component.
to identify down to component level will require specialist test equipment which most computer techs will not have. If a company will repair for £400 fixed cost, I would suggest you bite their hand off.

Tend to agree (although a second hand light unit goes for c£500) - however he is doing this as a favour to try save me the cost.

RE the PCB, I also agree, that's definitely the issue. We were hoping we'd see a simple solder to fix however that's not the case which means it's a part that's gone. He only needs the wiring diagram to see how the board is powered, as I believe he then has tools to enable/test the various lamp circuits within it, to see which ones drive and which ones don't. From that we should know which section of the board to replace - rather than paying the full £400 to replace every component.

Will keep everyone updated if we find the issue. Sounds like a common fault so will be worth knowing!

I don't know if you have been in touch with the company I sent you a link to or not. When they did mine it was the first one they had done and as such they did do quite a bit of testing to find the problem. Thats why it cost £400 or so.
Maybe now they have done at least one it might be an idea just to enquire as to the cost.

They didn't have any record of fixing it and said I would need to send the part to them to "play about with".
