Interesting if true. Which leaves the question, if not Daimler then who?

The part I found most interesting was this:

""" Daimler gave the underpinnings of a Mercedes-Benz to help Aston Martin build a Lagonda concept car displayed at the Geneva auto show in 2009. """

So the new Lagonda is basically a Merc with some bit's added on top.. just like the Cygnet is an IQ with bit's added.

I wonder if this will ever go full circle and some less luxury brand ends up with an Aston badged as their own and offered to a more general end user.

The Lagonda concept was an SUV based on the Mercedes GL platform...and I think we'll all agree that borrowing from the MB/AMG parts bin is probably a better option than Toyota, Ford, Volvo, etc.

Actually, I have...I have owned 4 MB cars over the past 15 years and have seen the quality drop in the early 2000's and then improve dramatically in 2006+. I currently have a 2010 G55 AMG which is my daily driver.
