Looking at buying a DB9 - some interesting looking deals out there sub 50k...

But - do the older cars have electronic issues / any other fundamental problems and if so what year where these sorted out?

Thanks

I have an 55 plate DB9 and have had no problems in my 18 months of ownership........the very early 04 cars had some new model teething problems

Apart from a faulty passenger door latch, a known problem, my 23k mile Nov 04 car has had no electrical issues during seven months ownership. Make sure all the software is up to date and the gearbox oil cooler has no corrosion/leaks. (A stainless steel system was in introduced in 06 or 07). The satnav can be upgraded to full 7 digit postcode recognition and better lane guidance with 2010 Volvo mapping discs - part no: 31310191.

I've had a 54 plate for 20k miles - it's now up to 60k. In that time 2 services at indys - £500 each, and a couple of sets of tyres. Other than that, nothing has broken. Good car.

Got any more info, googled the part number and it seems you can download foc. How do you get it from PC to car? is it as straight forward as burning a disc and sticking it in?

you just need to slowly burn the CD and stick it in the nav unit in the boot...

Hi, I had a look at the satnav website. There are two versions:

Volvo RTI MMM+- Europe
Volvo RTI DVD systems

The former contains more countries but I suspect my 05 DB9 can only take the second one which is DVD version? Please confirm.

Thanks.

Very worthwhile improvements for the price. Full 7 character postcodes and more up to date maps.

Sorry.

Mine's an 07 model year car built in October 2006. No electrical issues, apart from a broken switch on the clutch pedal (the one that means you can't start the car without depressing hte pedal).

Sorry, this thread has been a little sidetracked....

Disc fitted into my 07MY Vantge.
Gives up to date maps (apparently)
Some improved graphics (apparently)
Post code search facility (definitely)

But I still don't use my satnav much.
