I have a 2009 spec 4.7 roadster sports shift that has done approx 11500miles. The car has sat in the garage for approx 3 weeks and at the weekend i had the following problem.
Whilst slowing down to stop at a set of trafic lights i changed down using the paddles into 1st, as the lights changed i put my footdown but nothing happened. Car was showing 1st on dash but nothing.
Gradually it caught and off it went. It was much like the auto box on my smart 4/2 which if you slow down for a roundabout and then decide to go it get confused and the lag is very long.
I just thought that it was a bit odd, but it has done the same today as i went to turn right across a main road . Other than that it functions normally. Any ideas?

With it being sat for a while have you done the infamous "clutch learn" ?

Mine has started doing it too. It's as if it needs a few seconds to think about the gear before it will pick up, I mean mine picks up slowly but the proper power doesn't go down unless you do foot flat or wait for it to catch at about 4-5k revs it seems.

Any ideas?

(I'm pretty sure it's not clutch learn as I've been doing that for a while)

ETA: Mine's a 2009 59 V8VR SS too but only at 5,500 miles.

Thats exactly it. Today it happened as i pulled across a road leaving me stranded. The engine revs do not increase so i don't think it a slipping clutch. Car is otherwise fine.

Hi nice speaking to you last night and here is the info I said I would post, without access to some live data diagnosis on this would be difficult, I would not suspect the clutch or gearbox, one simple thing to check is if the throttle flap is sticking, outside that a proper diagnosis by either the dealer network or a specialist will be required,

You could try this first

If it is occuring with steering applied, is it the inside rear wheel slipping, and activating traction control? If it is in a straight line, maybe it is a right foot problem?

Thanks for that Rick, mine had also had the odd stutter. Just cleaned as per your video and has made a noticeable difference, seems to pull much harder at higher revs.

glad you got it all sorted, this procedure is on the service schedule but not until the fourth year service, I would suggest for those of you who do not want to touch anything mechanical ask your dealer or specialist etc to clean it each time they service the car, it is something we do on every service and consider it a necessity,

This thread being about 2 weeks old, mine seems to be clearing itself up a bit. I haven't touched the engine bay or been to a dealership but it's better (although not perfect).

I might take a printout of the thread to the dealership and see what they think.
