I've just been at the "UK Customer Launch" of the Cygnet at Stratstone, Park Lane where Ulrich Bez was the special guest speaker. I managed to get a moment to have a conversation with him after the presentation, mostly talking about what specification we would order the car in for my girlfriend - he decided either Black on Red or Red on Black; with red colouring on the alloys - eewwww! As it happens I've just today confirmed the spec for a Mini but that's a different story.

I was fascinated by what a genuinely awesome guy he seemed! He was really into the car (let's not get into a pro or con debate), asked me about my V8V and generally nice to talk to. A little bit loony in his thoughts but hey he did well and left me happy to be an Aston owner.

I asked if they were going to make the smaller engine unit, 1.0l, in the future which in iQ form is green enough to avoid the London Congestion Charge and he confirmed it will arrive a year from now but until then just the 1.3.

In all a very pleasant time and feel pleased to have met Dr Bez!

(let's not get in to a pro or con debate ) - no chance on this forum . Pity you did not tell him you'd gone for a mini- then he could have joined the debate.

Surprised you didn't talk about something interesting like if he believes they stand a chance of an outright win at Le Mans sometime soon.

Were you expecting the head of the firm to say he thought it the biggest steaming dog turd the firm had ever built wink

The debates have gone on and on. The CEO, designer, dozens of other employees and no doubt a tranche of customers will cite it as a marvel.

Go read the emporer's new clothes for a possible alternative..

It's only dwarfed by the whole climate debate. Complete and utter bks.

biggrin

PS I'm sure he's lovely. And a whole generation of Astons have been top drawer. If he doesn't continue this, history will not be kind.
