Any suggestions would be much appreciated. We are planning to head up to Scotland in April / May time. Just me the wife and the Aston. Duration approx 1 week starting from Hereford with the intention of going up the West side. Hotels, scenery and great driving roads. Thanks in advance.

We went up in our DB7 in 2009 just before we changed to the 9.

Route went

York
Edinburgh (take in Stirling Castle and Glen Coe [a must to drive] en route to...
Loch Ness
Campbeltown
Ambleside

I would not recommend Cambeltown even though the Mull of Kintyre is lovely...Campbeltown is most definately not!!

At Loch Ness I would definately recommend The Lovat Arms: http://www.thelovat.com/

I did a tour of Scotland in a new V12V last August.
Some great roads, and great hotels too.
There was a post last year, which covered in some detail some great driving roads around Scotland

The Cameron House, already recommended was terrific. The A82 north was a good road, especially once away from Loch Lomond and up through Glencoe
Boath House near Nairn was very good also..an amazing restaurant, and the drive to the last stop at Kinloch House Hotel in Perthshire, close to Blairgowerie was probably the best of the lot, as was the hotel in my view.

Here a few pics..great memories....

If you're going to Inverness then spend a night at the Rocpool Reserve. It's stupendous! And then think about heading from Inverness over to Skye - the roads and the scenery are fantastic.

Get Carter on the photo forum is a Scotland expert - and has an Aston I think.

Steve (Get) has a V8 Vantage IIRC. I've done chunks of his "Finest drive in Britain ?" in my V8 and Cerbera and it's quite spectacular and, better, was almost entirely empty in June and September. Worth a detour, especially out to Applecross.

Personally I would avoid Sky, the roads are faily boring.

Any route up the west coast, past Oban, Applecross, Ulerpool and then on to Tonge are going to be great fun. Like wise the roads from Aviemoor to Breamar and then Creif are also great and let not forget the Trossachs

Totally agree with that
We used Skye as a base for two days on our last trip.
Next time it will be further NW
We avoided the Loch ness & Loch Lomond

Just outside Tonge

On our way round the far NW

have a look at Steve's site Ive been up there in my Tuscan the scenery and the roads are fantastic and April /May in my opinion is the correct time to visit.
There are lots af great roads but I would also consider driving from stirling to Fort william and then onto Sky via the ferry at mallaig then back off skye via the sky bridge then head upto Ullapool via Loch carron Applecross and Sheildaig.....I'm going to be doing it again in my Cerb as I enjoyed it so much last year!!

Thanks guys - we have a plan. Will definitely be taking Steve Carter's recommendations & following his 'finest drive in Britain?' route. Roll on 6th May when we get to put the plan into action!
