I have a very good friend who is looking at buying a new/nearly new DBS Touchtronic 2+2 & wondered what ownership experiences could be shared?

My friend hasn't owned an Aston before though has experienced other similar sector manufacturers i.e. Lambo & Ferrari as well as several Porkers etc amongst a long list of sports cars but has a need now for a 2+2 etc & has been drawn towards a DBS though is wrestling with an Italian mistress as well (but not immediate delivery etc etc)

So far his experiences of the marque have been text book & the local AM dealer has pulled out all the stops including getting him a factory tour to convince him & the 'senior management' of how special an Aston is relative to many of its competitors.

I appreciate the DBS is a rare car hence posting this thread - any feedback would be greatly appreciated thumbup

Yes, tell him to buy one there will be no regrets..I have that exact spec in Lightening Silver....I think it is the most beautiful car from which ever angle you look at it.....NAV GPS is poor and the internal controls require a degree in controls! All incidental...2+2 is great for me as I have a 7 yr daughter so she can come out with us and fits comfortably in the back....as she gets older we will just leave her behind!!

Just got back from my first decent drive of 2011. Picked up a mate at lunchtime and spent about 6 hours in the car on the cotswolds roads, with a customary pub lunch stop and a visit to a ducati dealer up near Bicester. The roads were dry, the traffic light and the routes we picked full of opportunities to test the car. What a fabulous day. My mate also got an hour of driving in and having driven my 4.7 Vantage a few times before finally understood why i swapped to a DBS. I must admit mine is a 2+2 manual, i have driven several TT2 cars but I just like the manual approach. Ive driven quite a few ferraris and a couple of lambos which are awesome but for me the experience of being out in the Aston is something else. Its not just the drive, its partly the uniqueness of the cars (didnt see a single aston today), especially the rare sight of a DBS on the road (to be honest i didnt see a ferrari either although did see a lovely 2011 plate Gallardo). One of the main attractions i have to Astons is the subtlety, they are noticed but its almost a double take, its not 'in yer face'.

Ive had the DBS since August last year and it makes me smile just walking in the garage. Have experienced zero issues to date, fuel consumption is a little poor but insurance and servicing seem quite reasonable (1st service next week). Be happy to answer any questions your friend has but i have to say, so far, its been nothing short of magical...
