Does anyone have a countryside hotel recommendation within a couple of hours drive of Santander/San Sebastien they might be able to share? Have a road trip which involves a few days in northern spain followed by a week or so in France. I have most of the trip sorted inc a few nights in San Sebastien but fancied popping a little south into the countryside rather than staying on the coast. Any recommendations appreciated! Ideally looking for a nice hotel with good views and a decent restaurant.

Can't help with further South I'm afraid, however when I did a driving tour last year in that area I stayed at the Le Beau Manoir for a few days in Biarritz (50 clicks North of San Sebastien):-

Really funky boutique hotel with only 8 rooms (I think). Really chilled out, and friendly staff. Great place to relax in comfort.

Within a 10 min walk of the hotel is a fantastic restaurant called Chez Phillipe:-

The chef acts like a rock star - it's a great experience with amazing food.

Not countryside, but the Parador in Leon's nice. And Leon itself is a nice place to see.
