0.1 microns no doubt but the effect is the same
What kind of wood? Looks like sunbleached mahogany!
That's a flame mahogany, can't tell which variety though.

And, no, the effect would not be the same, because you couldn't achieve that "effect" from a solid piece.
The "flame" is cut at the crotch where a limb protrudes from the trunk. It has been cut on a flat plane, the flame characteristic could not be achieved if cut on such a curve. The veneer is bonded to a curved former, probably MDF.
Because of the comparative scarcity of such timbers, they are turned into veneers.

I spent the last two days on these two

No offense meant, but that's some very tasty metal, in a pretty average house.

Do you put cars before house, or just have to live there?

Well you know your veneers! Now, a challenge - can you get any makore for a Freeman cruiser? The closest offical substitute is worryingly like sapele. PM if you prefer to avoid cluttering thread.
Yes I can.....crown, quartered, quartered mottle or fiddleback ?What's it for ?

One of these! What's it for ?

Not sure what the cut is, but if I know of a source then I can do minor DIY jobs, or make a new door, and it'll blend in. Mr Freeman used to import whole trees to get the grain matching, but I'm told they're banned now.
