'07 v8v mirrors not folding on locking

Evening all

Car came back from gettin new front brakes + a couple of other little jobs done today. Thing is, my mirrors aren't folding on locking anymore, and for the life of me I can't find any options in the menu!!

Any ideas how to "switch" this back on?

Hi Dav

Whenever we use the aston martin computer (AMDS) , it takes off this feature, god knows why.
Our boys then have to remember to replace this feature , looks like they have'nt on yours , really sorry.
I will contact you tomorrow , and arrange for a tech to come round and do it for you at your house.

It does but you will need to go to dealer to get it reset IIRC.

As someone in a service industry, the car should never have come back to you without all being shipshape in the first place

Good 2nd time service, poor first time fix...

Or you could look at it that mistakes and errors do occur and your service provider is only really then tested as to how they deal with putting it right. It's easy when things go as planned but it's the way a provider deals with you when things go wrong that's the real test.

well of course Murph your right....but this easily overlooked mistake was put right in the best way possiable leaving the customer probably feeling better about the dealer and its customer service than if they hadn't made the mistake......now that's a very smart move

Agree with both LC23 and Michael Gould. Customer has a problem (I know it was caused by the dealer), dealer fixes at no cost, effort to the customer, you can't get better than that. Its only when things don't go according to plan that you get to see real customer service and care in action. I wish more companies (not just Aston dealers) understood this.

They're a pain in the arse the folding mirrors on pre 09my cars. The mearest mention of powerfold and they forget to work. If the battery drops below a certain voltage, they forget. If the AMDS is plugged in, they forget. If you update the system software, they forget. Even when you reset them, they don't always continue to work. If someone moves the door mirror manually (like in a car park) they won't powerfold in again off the remote until you've done it first using the 2 buttons on the switch pack. From 09my they made it so it wouldn't forget and then on 10my onwards it's now controlled in the centre stack menu.

User menu control's the best option. Though you then have to put up with elephantine wing mirrors and an interior font that's a bit Ford Ka.

(btw, was just being cantankerous - I agree that the fix was cooly done )

Apologies for the stupid question here but were folding mirrors an option on the V8 Vantage ( 55 plate ).

I can't see a button in the cockpit anywhere to make them fold and they don't fold when i lock / unlock the car.

I'm just wondering if 'the fold option' may have been lost when the car went to a dealer for a pre-buy inspection before i bought it.

Hit both the L and R buttons on your mirror controls at the same time

Powerfold mirrors was an option on early cars. Think it may have become std MY08 or MY09. Possibly later.

If you press L&R as above, you'll know if yours has it.

Ok so pressed L & R and the mirrors fold......Very nice !!

Is it possible get them to auto open / close when I open and close the car ?

The car went to AM for an inspection check up before I bough it as a private sale - could this have caused the mirrors to sto folding and opening automatically maybe ?

Yes, as per the OP.

It's a setting a dealer or indy (with the right kit) can change.

Original owner might never have asked for it to be set...or it could have been dropped at a service etc.
