I changed out my keyfob to this and although it looks a lot better, it is pretty difficult to get it to work. I find myself having to continuously press lock or unlock before it actually does. I changed the battery, but that did not help. Has anyone else had any issues with these?

Ok, just given this a go and wonder if I have the wrong replacement key fob.

Have got the Aston circuit board to look like this pic

However, on the back panel the "box" section where the Jag spare key slots down in to seems to then prevent the unit from being able to be closed together with the aston circuit board needing a little space where the replacement has none to offer.

Has anyone got a pic of the other piece of this replacement that I can see where I am going wrong? (or have bought a cr*p one).

Edited to add a picture to show both sides of what I have..

So aston insides fits nice and snug in the plastic trim part (nobs cut off ooo er) but the housing on the rear with the key "box" gets in the way of where the rear of the original circuit board wants to sit.

See other thread! You need to also remove the green surround to the electronics.

I did this but the rubber buttons dont seem to touch the microswitches and the board seems to be about 2mm too big on the sides.

I have just been cursing you as I took mine apart to photograph the inside and then remembered what a fiddly arse it is to get back in with the spring for the key release on the Jag key ring!!

Right, photo incoming...

Been a few discussions about having a nicer keyfob for the older cars so i spent a bit of time trawling ebay for Jag / Volvo / Ford keyfobs on the basis it would be a shared part. The Jag XK unit is a perfect match and you just need to swap the internals over. It has Jaguar on the back but since mine is an LM i decided to cover it in red film to match the interior.

But now I'm not sure. Pics show the two units side by side.....

What year Jaguar XK fob ?

Just swapped my key fob, so much better! The buttons are a little stiff, but a huge improvement over all! Best part is, it seems to be a reproduction fob, so there’s. I trace of a Jaguar badge anywhere, and it only cost £16! Ordered a little Aston badge to glue on and finish it off.

I did the same - a recreation Jag fob meant no ingrained logo to worry about and a £4 Aston badge glued on looked OEM.

Wonder if the other chaps have managed it ok yet?!

Ordered mine from the USA if I remember rightly. Only a few quid and no pins to remove - just a dab of superglue and done.
