I have an 02 WRX wagon. Had two sets of keys, but currently missing one, and the immobiliser fob on spare set is not programmed to car. The key works to open door, but can't start it.

Any ideas on how to programme fob? (not sure if it's standard - it is a black plastic fob with blue background and black button which opens doors as well as activates alarm/immobilser)

Thanks

I've got the opposite problem, two fobs one has lost signal the other works fine so not Sure if its going to be a Subaru jobbie to re-program and or purchase another key. Think i'm looking at £150?

If its just the alarm controls that are not working, its easy to reprogram them yourself using the key pad.

Its the c/locking & imob that is not working from that key. Does that make a difference? How would I do that from a key pad...?

I got mine reprogrammed by a well known Subaru main dealer for £20. The first one a couple of months earlier they did for free.

You should be able to go to your local Sabaru dealership with reg document and some ID in hand, and get your alarm code revealed. They usually do it via the vin number, and if you have a new key that needs to be sync'd up they can do that there and then.

Sorry, forgot about this.

The keypad is for the Sigma alarm.

Its the Sigma alarm/disarm that opens/closes the door by the button. Its also the button you have to press if you dont start the car within 30 seconds or so. (Not to confused with the subaru immobiliser which matches to the key code*).

You should have a alarm override code and manual with your car paperwork. In there are instructions on how to reprograme the alrm buttons if the battery runs out or they simply loose the code. (Its happend to me once). You basically recod the key/built in alarm fob - to the Sigma alarm.

Obviously Subaru can do this for you (£20 sounds about right). *But it should not be confused with reprogramming a key - which matches the ignition key chip to the cars own immobiliser, thus allowing it to start. That costs circa £75 to get done.

Ok cool cheers. If I don't start my car within 30 seconds I push the key round to the last turn and press the lock/unlock button as that seems to work fine. I'm sure the code is somewhere in all the paperwork just haven't been bothered to look for it.
