Scrapped it for £140.

I have had 3 MR2 Mk 2's over 13 years, loved every minute of owning one, a truly excellent car. Have owned a J, P(T-bar), and R(T-bar) reg.

Time to move on to a more sensible every day car.

At least I have my TVR for fun hehe

What was wrong with it TVRW? If there was nothing wrong I would have purchased it for £150. :sigh:

You nutter! Surely stripping it and selling for parts you would get at least £500+ ?
What was wrong with it?

Miss my mr2s every day. Lovely cars indeed. There are so many bargains about too!

What was so wrong with it to scrap for £140?

OK here goes headache

1. The door seals had perished (both sides), so when it rained water was streaming through the windows irked
2. The boot was mouldy, cos condensation was getting into the boot irked
3. The front brake callipers had seized (yet again), so the front brakes were squealing rage
4. The shocks needed replacing.
5. There was welding needed doing on the chassis (It failed the MOT).
6. The alloy wheels needed refurbishment cos the tires deflated every day.
7. The steering wheel was non-standard and was ste.

need I go on nono

So you see I couldn't be bothered selling it to somebody who would be coming back to me complaining about so and so.

I just put this particular one down as a bad buy, but great car never the less.

A list of 7 woes
Depending on where the failure point was, only No. 5 might be a major issue.

Jeez. You really think I would be giving you grief over a car for <£200? eek

Sad times. Another 2 in scrapyard heaven. Would have been interested in buying for spares

That's a real shame. It looks lovely.

I've been driving mark 2s for 15 years. Luckily my rev 4 is still going strong.

I've finally got around to sorting mine out to sell. Jump started (been on the driveway for a month), 60 miles of gentle driving, then a shakedown to check the boost settings are all right.

I dont want to sell it anymore, boost kicks the snot out of a flat six frown

why did you scrap yours? the bodywork looked in good order, and rare coloured bumpers are always in demand...just wait for the first cold, wet weekend in October and the pleads for bumpers and doors on IMOC start hehe

To be honest, none of the above is serious, least of all number 7. I'm amazed, but your car your choice!

Hard decision to have to make but guess the large list of negatives made the scrap value pay off the easy choice, still a shame.

Replace it with a fresh import MR2 tubby!

Slightly off topic, but similar vein. A friend told me last night about her friend with an 02 plate Polo who sold it for £200! His cambelt snapped and the garage quoted him £1500 'to fix it' or they'd buy it off him for £200..

..I feel sorry for his ignorance here, but the garage will no doubt fit a second hand engine and sell it on for £2k+..
