Are there any major differences between a 'normal' Subaru Legacy estate and the Outback models other than jacked up suspension?

Anyone have any opinions on whether either model is better than the other?

Depends what you want to use it for, which engine you go for and whether buying new or used. But overall Legacy is keener drivers car with less roll. But outback 3r (if buying used) still punchy. Not much difference inside. Have not driven the latest models. Tell me more.

My pleasure...

Daily driving, bicycle carrying, potentially towing a Mini, you know the usual...

I'd probably look at the 3-litre as that seems to suffer depreciation more than the others so would make a cheaper buy.

The main advantage of the Outback is the extra clearance and bump absorption, conversely the advantage of the Legacy is tighter handling and less body roll. Both are great cars though.

If you want a 3litre the legacy is much the better drivers car. Spec b fab. Later cars 2008 onwards had best spec if you can afford plus drivers control. 3r outback was still a good but a bit bouncier.
