Forester XT vs Outlander – 04/05 Vintage

Looking for a second car load lugger for kids / stuff / snow capability (Number 1 car is a Co Car BMW).

I was surprised to find you can get a reasonable example of either for £3.5-£5k.

Doing limited mileage so MPG isn’t a big consideration.
Most consumable parts look similarly priced.
Obviously the Forester is much quicker and (I suspect) a more engaging drive. But the Outlanders I’ve seen look in generally better nick.
The interior of the Outlander looks more utilitarian, but I quite like the ‘surf truck’ look of the thing.

Anyone got any experience of either??

Yes I have an 04 XT. Had it since November last year. So far, I can only fault the mpg.
