Toyota Fault Code Reader

Apologies if a numpty question, but what do I need to be able to read (and understand) fault codes on a 2003 Yaris? I've decided that I'll do the servicing myself on our lil' old indestructible and want to be thorough.

Any recommendations?

Any OBDII or EOBD handheld reader will read and clear (ECU reset) generic engine sensor error codes.

For error codes relating to specific Toyota modules other than generic OBD engine error codes you'll need either Toyota Software and hardware (main dealerships) or prohibitively expensive aftermarket kit with specific Toyota based software enhancements.
