Is anyone getting their WRX's, Pulsar's, MR2's etc,on classic car insurance, i am considering one as a toy in a few months, i will not be doing many miles and have a garage and have a car and a bike as daily's, i also have no 'no-claims' and a rotten postcode...smile

I ran my MR2 Turbo on my normal policy and it wasn't too expensive, so I expect a limited miles classic policy would be a great way of running one as a second car.

I have an Alfa and a Celica (non turbo's) on limited classic policies, just wondering if people have managed to get their flying machines on them..

I have my 1996 FD RX7 on a classic policy - comes in at less than £300.

I tried insuring my GT4 under a classic policy but it wasn't the vehicles age more my age that prevented me from doing it which I did find strange seeing as its 'Classic Car' not 'Classic Driver'? Hmm....so according to some you need to be old to own an old car!

Who would you guys recommend for classic policies? And would the car need to be garaged?

I've got my GT-Four insured with Sky Insurance at the moment (well, the insurer is Chaucer, but via Sky) and the MR2 turbo is just on a week's temporary cover at the moment until I get it sorted, but I'm thinking of putting the MR2 on a classic policy. Would that work with a '97 car that's not garaged?

Mine insurance is with Peter Best, they'll only insure over 25's, milage is limited to 6k per year and you can't have any modifications until you're over 30.

I park mine on the drive, they were fine with that.

Says on their website that all vehicles must be at least 26 years old - did you ring them to get around that restriction?

I called them after being recomended on the Mazda Rotary Club, I had to send photos to prove the cars condition but the age of the car never came up, but like you say it definatly says it on the website - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the renewal now!

Just called Peter Best for a quote on my B7 S4. They said because of my inner city post code most of the insurers thy deal with require additional security features like Trackers etc.

Insured my MR2 with Classicline, although possibly not the classic policy, more the custom/hot rod type cover. But insured as a 2nd car (main car with your NCB on that is a requirement) 3K miles per year is £280. Not bad for a modified import.
Oddly the UK bog standard Alfa 155 I also have insured with them is £300

My insurer (Keith Michaels) told me that imports could not be insured on a classic policy, no idea if that's true or not though.
