Thought about posting in Advanced Driving, but I fear I would be misunderstood there.
Just bought a new fancy Jap turbo (RX7, thanks for asking) and would like to get some idea of the car's limits. I come into this after 3 years of MR2 Turbo ownership - which was, quite frankly, terrifying - and about 18 months of Legnum VR4 - never ever lost grip, ever.
Seeing as my insurance comes with complementary cover for 5 track days, I'd like an idea of how far I can push the car without ending up through the Armco backwards with my teeth on fire. Any thoughts on where I should be looking for some tuition/experience?
Cheers.

airfield trackday probably the safest bet lots of runoff and generally pretty safe to explore the limits
p.s. where do you get your insurance
That's not a bad idea. Crail is just up the road. I take it there are rules and regs, and I won't be forced off the track by some Barry in a Nova wanting an RX7 scalp?p.s. where do you get your insurance
Insurance is through a company called Competition Car Insurance. Cheaper than the usual ones (Sky, Adrian Flux, etc.) by at least a grand, and then the nice lady on the phone dropped the free trackday bombshell and I was sold.

just curious - is it a standard car or modded?Insurance is through a company called Competition Car Insurance. Cheaper than the usual ones (Sky, Adrian Flux, etc.) by at least a grand, and then the nice lady on the phone dropped the free trackday bombshell and I was sold.
might look at them if they do modded.
Anyway back on topic.
Most track days I've been on are pretty safe. nobody tends to drive like a nutter around other people I've only seen one accident caused by someone else, and thats in about 10-15 track days. However I have seen car damage on pretty much every track day bar airfield ones.
A friend came on my last one and remarked how 'civilised' and 'well behaved' everyone was.
Accidents are almost always caused by people taking themselves off with over enthusiastic driving and on a track there are things to hit as well as runnoff and gravel traps, whereas on airfields there is usually massive run off.

It's a set of injectors and a remap away from very highly modded indeed might look at them if they do modded.

They know what they're yakking about, and if they don't there's someone a couple of desks away that does. Highly recommended for modded cars.

If You're still interested in Crail, it's £10 entry and £15 for drag strip and the 'drift oval'

It's nothing fancy, just basic place to have some fun. Be careful on the drift circuit though!
