MR2 mk3 mpg on a run

Hi all, looking to get a mk3 MR2 soonish if all goes well. However I was wondering what I can expect in terms of mpgs on motorway journeys sat at 70 (Ill leave the speeding for the twisty roads...)?
Ive heard everything from low 30s to low 40s, so thought I'd ask those who know!

Well I was going for a early one, mainly due to price, and I know they did some tinkering to the later ones, apparently the manual in the later ones isnt as nice as the older models.Good choice of car BTW. But still need to do some more searching for the model I want, know I wont like SMT, and the later models (I think only the SMT one) have more safty features which I dont want.

You're right, the semi-auto cars had girly driver aids. Haven't driven the pre-facelift MR2, but my later car has the 6-speed manual which seems a decent enough box re: ratios and shift quality. It isn't in the same league as an S2000 or even a Mk1 MX5 as regards weight and feel through the box, but good enough for a sports car. The gates are very close together; I mis-shifted a few times until I got used to it.
If you do get an early car it might be a good idea to remove the pre-cats if this hasn't already been done.
