Hi guys I have a question regarding insurance not to sure if this is the rite place to post up? If not moderators please move to the relevant section.

I have owned a Nissan skyline gtr vspec for 4 years now I wanted to know if I could get pay as you go insurance on it? It has some modification also. I only use this car in the summer months and is stored in a garage all year round out of harms way so insurance is not needed thought out the rest of the year.

welcome!

i'm not sure that PAYG insurance is available to be honest. i know there are specialist companies that you can "lower" your insurance while a car is in storage, then "reactivate" it when you want to get it out for a few months.

you could try some of the short-term insurance companies but i have a feeling they will hammer you for a weekly/monthly figure.

are you on the owners club? - if so, try calling your nominated insurer (usually SKY or Adrian Flux for Jap motors) - explain the situation and see what they recommend.

Classic insurance these days is not based on age its based on usage and mileage. If its a second car and used for minimal miles you'll get it on classic cover no problem.

Plenty of the RX7 crowd have their cars on classic insurance, including the late models.
