Why are you fitting them??
They screw with the engine bay airflow
Air is channelled by the undertrays which are made in such a way as to force air up from under the car and out the engine lid taking hot air with it. The buttress arrangement at the rear of the car acts to make a low pressure zone which aids the removal of hot air
Fitting scoops which force air down into the engine bay effectively stalls the airflow coming up through the engine bay.
The original Toms scoop for the passenger side of the car which started this whole craze was designed to be directly connected to their airbox so as not to f-ck up the airflow.
Plus they look uber gash.
You'd be better off putting your money towards the only decent airbox solution available for the SW20, the ARC Airbox.

I think a single one looks cool, and if it was hooked up to a decent enclosed airbox with a cone filter inside it would probably make a great induction noise. However, even with an oiled filter, would water ingress in heavy rain not be an issue? It's just going to get funnelled straight down the scoop, surely?
Also, as mentioned, having two is useless, unless both are somehow linked to the airbox, and surely one would provide more than enough air. Coupled with the fact that adding two of them would likely affect the airflow out of the engine bay and it starts to seem like a pretty rubbish idea. All it would have is the noise, but a scoop on it's own won't give you that, and if I wanted to make my MR2 sound better I'd lose the heavyweight exhaust and get a louder one and a screamer pipe custom built.

What air box have you got? As has been pointed out, unless the scoop is directly connected thereto it will provide no functional benefit whatever. If anything it will do the opposite.spudgun GB said:
Blimey, a veilside kit and scoops. Made for each other.
If you love it you enjoy it.
Sure. It's his car. Who are we to suggest he doesn't add something which may well compromise the air flow? If you love it you enjoy it.

O/T. The lack of contrast due to the cloud cover really screwed up my pics. Can't remember the last time I took so many that ended up being binned.
