So into my second week of running the RX-8, (£200 of fuel so far!) and it is still awesome. Ive heard whispers of getting them remapped, whats everyones thoughts on this, is must have on the rex or is it minimal gain?

Id be amazed if a remap did anything at all on the rotary

Enjoy it as it was meant to be intended, standard, its a rotary engine so i wouldn't trust a remap on something as niche as that

Has has some decent reports on the owners club, headline gains aren't that much but improves the power delivery.

I didn't realise you could remap a standard RX8 ECU, for an RX7 you need something like an A'Pexi PowerFC. Then decat, exhaust and better filters/intake does quite a lot smile

dele, what's having a rotary got to do with not remapping? I'm curious that's all.

Cheers for the advise guys, not looking to change the exhaust just yet, currently got a nice decat exhaust on it that pops and cracks very nicely!

About to service the car though so might be worth looking into doing something with the filter, will K+N do me nicely or is there something better you would suggest?

K&N is in mine and is fine. I have a decat as well and the only problem is that the exhaust drowns out the engine and intake sound.

Complete waste of money. Seriously. The only way to get decent gains is forced induction. A better exhaust and intake won't make it faster, just sound better : )

From what I understand to get performance gains out of the RX8 it costs big money.

Dont bother with an induction system, the standard one is very good just get a K&N type panel filter.

Exhaust will get a few bhp, but mainly improve the sounds more than anything.

I am happy with my in standard guise, just rev the nuts off the thing.
