Hi, I'm having a job interview on Tuesday and if successful my daily commute will drop from 80 to 25 miles! Presently I drive a wee MK3 MR2 Roadster, which gets great mileage having a 6th gear, but it's a bit, er, dull-ish. Cornering and steering are good, but acceleration is a bit lacking.

I have always promised myself either a Cerbera or an RX-7 if I get a job closer to home, and the car will be used primarily for this role. I do like to take the slightly longer but much twistier route (Scottish B roads) back home, and can offset this by cycling to work for a day or so each week.

Are there any authoritative web sites/links that can break down all the differences in years/models? I've been looking through the ads for the last week or so, trying to work out the obvious differences, but so many seem to be modified, that it's difficult to decide which options and spec to go for. Any advice?

The Brian Long book is the one you want. However, unmodified cars are so rare now that the small differences between original models are basically lost.

IMO, the only significantly different models are the Series 8 built from 1999 onwards.

That's all about US models. They were made in Japan right up until 2001 (or was it 2002?) and as you're likely to end up with a Jap import I'd suggest heading over to MRC or fd:uk smile

This link contains Jap specs smilehttp://www.rx7.net.nz/fd-jp-models.html
